Privacy Policy
TranslateGo does not require an account, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not store your translations on our servers.
What we collect
To translate your speech we briefly process two kinds of data:
- Audio from your microphone — only while you are tapping the mic button. Audio is streamed over an encrypted connection (WSS) to our translation provider, Soniox, and is discarded after transcription. We do not retain it on our servers and Soniox confirms in their policy that they do not retain it on theirs.
- A device identifier — a random UUID generated on first launch and stored in your iPhone's keychain. It lets us enforce the daily free quota per device and detect abuse. It is not linked to any personal account, email, or device serial. You can erase it from Settings → Reset all data.
What we do not collect
We do not collect: name, email, phone number, location, contacts, photos, billing info, advertising identifiers, or any third-party tracking signals. The app does not contain analytics SDKs that fingerprint you.
How translations are processed
When you tap the mic, TranslateGo asks our backend (a Cloudflare Worker) to issue a short-lived translation token. The app then connects directly to Soniox using that token. Soniox returns translation results to the app over the same encrypted connection. None of this content passes through, or is stored by, our backend.
Third parties
- Soniox — provides real-time speech-to-text and translation. Subject to Soniox's privacy policy. Audio is processed and not retained.
- Apple App Attest — Apple's anti-fraud framework, included with iOS. We use it to confirm requests come from a real iPhone running our genuine app. No personal data is involved.
- Cloudflare — hosts our backend Worker and this website. Standard server logs (IP, user agent, timestamp) may be kept by Cloudflare per their policies; we don't aggregate or analyze those logs.
Children
TranslateGo is not directed at children under 13. The app does not collect personal data from anyone, regardless of age.
Your rights
Because we do not link any data to your identity, the practical right you have is the right to erase. Open Settings → Reset all data at any time. This wipes your device identifier, translation history, and preferences. Once you do this we have no record of you having used the app.
Changes
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and bump the date at the top. The version that applied at the moment you used the app is the one that governs that use.
